Oki Semiconductor Releases Latest 10 Gbps Optical Receiver Module Designed for High-Speed OC-192/STM64 Fiber Optic Networks

January 14, 2002, Sunnyvale, Ca — Oki Semiconductor, a leading technology partner for the new era of digital communications and convergence, today released a new 10.7 Gbps Indium Gallium Arsenide (InGaAs) model of its optical receiver module with a transimpedance amplifier and an integrated Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) preamplifier. Oki's latest OD9652N module is part of Oki's popular line of optical receiver preamp modules, which are designed especially for OC-192-based fiber optic networks that use forward error correction.

New for 2006

By combining features such as low power consumption, high-trans-impedance, and a small size 17-pin surface mount design into an integrated InGaAs pin photo diode and GaAs pre-amplifier, Oki provides customers with a cost competitive, leading-edge performance solution. Optical network manufacturers deploying the next generation of optical transceivers can now offer their customers enhanced system performance, including increased transmission speed of 10.7 Gbps for forward error correction.

"Oki has responded to the demands of customers who require optical component solutions that are reliable, cost effective and maximize the performance of their networks," said Dennis Chu, director of optical component marketing at Oki Semiconductor. "Our latest addition to the 10 Gbps photo diode preamp module product line offers customers high transmission speeds and system performance, as well as a compelling choice - that they can easily change from the OD-9651N to the OD9652N module with only a small increase in price."

The OD9652N is available at carrier rates of up to 10.7 Gbps. Available in a 17-pin low-profile surface mount type package (gull wing lead), the module operates over a wide temperature range of 0 to 70°C and has a typical responsivity of 0.8 A/W @ 1550 nm. Evaluation modules are also available to help speed up customers' qualification process.

Features of the OD9652N include:

  • High data rate capability, 10.7 GHz
  • Small footprint
  • High trans-impedance
  • Low equivalent input noise current density
  • Inverted, single ended output
  • Integrated InGaAs pin-photo diode and GaAs pre-amplifier
  • Data output interface with RF feed through pin
  • Single-mode fiber

Pricing and Availability
